Mexican Cruise

I'm leaving for a Mexican Cruise on the 3rd and on Saturday I'm taking some family friends around so no posts until the 11th. Until then enjoy this video of a man singing Peacock on Chatroulette.

KAYOH BASIKAL (HD)

I haven't seen an edit with balls to stem skids in a long while.

Can you manual? FGFS

Cleannnn!

Quick Clip: JBall

Jball throws down on his Cutter. Hes one of the fastest improving rider in sMc and its sick to see him push himself.

2011 Xlife team weekend fun time 2

FOAM PITTTT! You guys don't understand how bad I wanna use one of those. Other than that some pretty solid riding form the Xlife Team. Ohh and some pretty sick dancing in the end.

Welcome Kendall Cooper

RYD welcomes their newest rider Kendell Cooper. The trick was pretty sick but it could've been cleaner. Kids got potential though.

Coming Soon

Awesome little teaser. I miss riding distance like no other.

new bike edit

Blk Mrkt makes some of the sickest products. I'm especially a fan of their FGFS Frame and their Molly Hatchet Bars. I'm running their Bada Bing Bars and they have yet to bend or snap.

To Live & Ride in L.A.

To Live & Ride in L.A. is one of the biggest videos in Fixed Gear history. Ii have yet to seen it but once I get some money I'll definitly be buying a copy and so should you. Support the sceneeee!

Bangin' Bikes: Vasilis' SE x UVT

The SE x UVT Frame is very underrated. SE kind of killed their company with the PK Ripper so they suffer through the lack of sales of their UVT Frame. Its one hell of a frame though. If priced right I bet people would overlook the company's past. This is Vasilis' set up that I saw up on Trick Track. Its got some solid parts and I bet it'd ride real nice.

Specs:
Frame: SE/US VERSUS THEM
Fork: SE landing gear
Headset: Cane Creek
Stem: Demolition Stealth
Bars: Volume Tricksters V2
Grip: Demo Missle Grip
Sprocket: Profile 30t
Cranks: Resist 165m

Summer in Los Angeles

Packy Golan, Gabe Winawer, Michael Stanis are a sollid bunch of riders. I don't recall anything from the latter two riders but they were holding it down for sure. Once I get my car I'll definitely drive up to LA to spot hop.

Will Gibbons: Untitled

Eighth Inch has a pretty solid team. Their riders styles are unique and aren't afraid of getting down. Good job on this edit Will!

Unknown Bike Co: Seoul'd Out!

Unknown has one of the most popular frames on the market and I think it is partly because they are such a big supporter of the game. Not many other companies are willing to fly out their riders overseas. Those guys are real lucky!

San Jose Fixed Gear Primary Edit

The P Fix boys go so fast. Out of all of them, I think Jeffy D has improved the most. His moves are a lot faster now.

Zlog Crew Mix

The Zlog Crew has so much style. Tyler Johnson is one of my favorite riders and he gets pretty techy at 1:11. His last move almost made me crap myself so watch out for that one. Such a sick edit with way to many bangers.

[SEOUL got SOUL] SAVE THE BIKE LANE (BFF Trailer)

I'm loving this trailer. If your in NY, don't miss your chance to see the premier of this video at BFF. I'm sure you won;t be disappointed.

Five Tricks with Wizard

The Wizarddddd. In this quick little edit he's doing what he does best. He's also repping Step Four my homies brand. Check that shiz outtt!

Bears Bike

Super sick flatland tricks in this one. I normally don;t have pegs but this guy really makes me want to throw a set on. Seen over on TTv first.

Lakai Fully Flared Intro (re-mastered in 720p HD)

I found myself mystified by this. I kind of just stared deep into the screen without thinking much else. I just bought a skateboard 2 or three day ago and yesterday was National Go Skate Day which makes it the perfect time to post up a skate video. This really makes me want to skate! I haven't skated since 5th grade so we'll see if I get back into it.

Surf and Snow Porn

This is freakin' EPIC! Surf and Snow porn...at the same time. I definitly want to do this before I die.

tumblr_kyrqgecJYx1qz6f9yo1_1280

Bangin' Bikes: Tomypunk's 14 Bike Co. ESB

This is such a sick whip. Super Ted makes one of the sickest frames on the market and there's no doubt its worth the price tag. Tomypunk's murdered out ESB is probably one of my favorite builds of all time. If I had the chance to build one up it probably wouldn't be much different.

Specs:
Frame/Fork : ESB 14 bike co superted
Stem : Profile 40 stem
Bar : Gusset Open Prison Uncut
Grip : Odi longnecks XXL
Crank : Profile 165mm
Sprocket : Resist 36t

ESB Bike Check

Third Street Redbull Ride + Style

The Redbull Ride and Style was a while back but I guess edits are still popping up. This is probably my favorite of only the competition though. Good edits take time!

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Captain Soncho Skid

Captain Soncho the one and only pulls off a pretty long balls to stem skid. Really shows how much FGFS has grown.

Macaframa in the News

Macaframa stopped by Huntington Beach to visit LDG and ran into some trouble with the police. Huntington Beach is a fairly safe place so the police have nothing better to do than pull over cyclists. I'm digging their reaction though. Typical Macaframa.

ALOHA SUNDAY

Hawaii has a super solid fixed gear scene. The locals are close in the first place but adding a bike community to the mix makes it even better. Aloha Fixed needs to put out a new FGFS edit soon!

Hong Kong Rider - Chu 2011 Bike Check & 1st edit

Such a sick build! It's one thing to have a nice bike but to thrash it is another thing. Chu is a new rider from HK (to me) and so far I'm extremely impressed. Keep the edits coming!

PUNPANFIXED SHOP

In my opinion, its pretty ambitious to create a store selling only vintage parts. Although the profit on individual parts may be greater, a vintage shop only caters to one kind of rider. I really hope the business is a success though! I'm a sucker for all that classiness!

Junho Park Solo Edit

Junho Park hits the scene hard in this solo edit. All of those falls are gonna pay off eventually! Go big or go home.

Fersure

OC representtt! These guys put out so many edits its ridiculous. I'm sure that we will see a bunch more now that its summer.

ALEX ZIRKE 2011

In spirit of summer I thought I'd post up this little surf edit. In the beginning I thought it was just gonna be artsy fartsy but I'm glad I was proven wrong. This guy really shreds!

Price Drop: Citygrounds Summer Sale

Citygrounds has some super solid deals on everything from lights to frames right now. Be sure to go to their website to check out the sale. You might just get lucky and find something you want. The one item that I would definitely swoop up if I had the money would have to be the Masi Specaiale Sprint. That thing rides like a freakin' dream! Plus, I doubt you can buy a better frameset for $350.

"Fixie Picnic Weekend"

This looks like such a fun time! Really reminds me of the great summer fixed gear scene.

Finals

Finals cram time again. Little posts till June 17th. Sorry guys!

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Almost Summer.

OC kids holding it down! First of all I love seeing the youngins' riding FGFS because its a sign that FGFS has a future. Secondly, I love seeing edits of riders in the OC. The community here isn't as tight as before but its nice to know that there are still riders out there.

Tyler Louie in Bay-Sicz Shit

Tyler Louie is on fire. He has improved so much since his first SHMOB edit. I'm excited to see what else he has in store for the world of FGFS.

Midwest Mayhem Video Dump

Heres a two edits and a teaser for MWM II. Its crazy how much things have changed since the first MWM.

Sunday, May 29, 2011

LaMarche Wins Midwest Mayhem II

Congrats to Tom LaMarche for taking first in Midwest Mayhem II! I'm sure a lot of crazy tricks went down and I'll be waiting for an edit. Thanks to Kris from Locked Cog for posting up this one.

Results:
1. Tom LaMarche
2. Matt Reyes
3. Josh Boothby
4. Congo

Volume Thrasher V2

Volume just released the info on their new Thrasher Frame. Its got some major changes but to keep it simple, they made it more current. Check out the real details on Volume's Blog.

thrashv2-front

Bangin' Bikes: Joey's Volume Cutter V6

As I've said before, the Volume Cutter is one of my favorite frames. On their newest model, Volume really stepped it up. The added tire clearances, curved seat tube, and awesome paint job really makes it one hell of a bike. I especially like Joey's build because of its solid components and its color scheme. it really does make his whip look classy as F***.

Specs:
- 53cm V6 Cutter
- TREE sprocket
- Demo cranks
- SNAFU pedals and stem
- Gusset Open Prison bars
- Dual 700c H+ Eeros w/ Resist hub (rear)
- Turbo saddle

Where Are The Pyramids? | Desert Trailer

This would be such a dope trip! It'd be super sketchy on those small tires though. Doing that ride on a FGFS bike would be way more comfy but I give these riders props for using what they have.

Fixed Gear Underground Race I, Jakarta, Indonesia

You might want to save this one for when you have a little more time seeing that it is 15 minutes long. Once you do sit down and watch it though, it will definitely be worth your time. I love how the fixed scene in Indo is growing bigger everyday. I also want to thank BLT for putting out such a good video!

EIGHTHINCH / MID-WEST MAYHEM 2011

Mid-West Mayhem 2 is gonna be off the chain. The first one was where FGFS really took off so it'll be hard to follow up. Eighth Inch does a good job in getting their riders to these events.

Bangin' Bikes: Jesse's V2 RYD Havoc

RYD just released a few new parts and the Havoc V2 is one of them. I'm not the biggest fan of RYD but I'm really digging the paint job. Jesse's got some solid parts on his build too.

Specs:
Ryd Havoc v2 Frame
Ryd Havoc v1 fork (soon BB17 Cobra v2)
Volume Trickster v1
Eastern Grips
Front 1.75 Whitewall Kenda and Back Chen Shin 1.5 (need bigger tires)

Packy Golan for Palms Cycle

Mannnn this kids getting good. I remember in his first edits he threw 180 sliders everywhere. It seems like his tricks are a lot more diverse now. Congrats on the sponsorship!

BBG Chronicles: Episode 7

It amazes me how these guys put out an edit every week. I love watching them progress and seeing new spots in their area.

XXLSTYLE TRICK TIPS 4 and 5

XXLSTYLE just posted some more how to video. Be sure to watch them if your just starting out, I'm sure they'll help.

Japan Gets FIXED!

The people of Hawaii decided to help out Japan by doing this island ride. I think its wonderful that they're helping out and theres no better way to help out that by doing something you love.

UNICORN EDIT #1

Real mellow vibe in this edit! Good Job Ride Unicorn it really broought me back to the old days.

United Soloist Fixie - Male Version

Now this is how you advertise a bike! The concept was really creative and it actually gave me the urge to look them up.

Bangin' Bikes: Marcos' Unknown V2

I've been working with Marcos on developing some new straps recently and not only does he make some bomb straps (more on those later) but hes got a solid build too! Be sure to check out MOLECULE for products, theres a lot in store!

Tom and Tony Texas Cookout - Get Me a Damn Beer

The quality isn't the greatest but there is definitely some solid moves in this one. I like how I've seen a lot of the spots in bmx edits. It just shows how the sports evolving.

Surabaya Fixed Gear : Weekend RoadRunner Recce Ride part 2

This makes me miss distance rides. I want a fast bike really badddddd.

Houghton Nights 2

This park looks like so much fun! Its not too far from me so maybe I'll hit it up soon! I'm glad to see that Mckeag got a new bike. It sucks that his Proto Thrasher got stolen.

GORBIS: Stay Chund

I haven't seen a Gorilla Kilroy in a while! I remember when they first came out and everyone wanted one. Unfortunately a lot of them broke. Thats what you get for not putting on gussets!

GAGEFOO SPRING 2011

I haven't seen anything from Gage in a while. Its good to see that he's still at it. A lot of riders stopped posting on Tricktrack and it sometimes seems like they dropped off the face of the FGFS world. I really wish Tricktrack regained what it once was.

Bangin' Bikes: My Bruiser on 26"

If you've been following my blog, you know that my mom ran over my rear wheel a while back. I looked at that situation as a positive seeing it as the perfect time to try dual 26". I'll do another post soon explaining my views but just know that I think they both have pros and cons. Now back to my actual bike. I would be running dual 1.95s like in the picture but I ripped two spokes out on a grind and it disfigured the rim (permanently untrue). Also, I'm running a small and it has unlimited barspin clearance. In addition, theres a little wiggle room with a 1.95 but nothing crazy (if you untrue rims quick I'd stick to 1.95s or so). The bottom bracket on the frame is also a little low even on 700c but its not unbearable.

Specs:
Frame- Small Milwaukee Bruiser
Fork- Leader Shadow Fork
Headset- Tange
Stem- Random 25.4 50mm Ebay Stem
Bars- Blk Mrkt Bada Bing Bars 28 inches wide
Grips- ODI Longneck XL
Seatpost and Clamp- Random
Seat- Charge Bucket
Cranks- 160mm Demolition Medials
Pedals- Primo Pc
Straps- Homemade but now Molecule Protos
Sprocket- 36t Mosh
Cog- 12t Sadio Cog and Lockring
Wheels- Dual 26" Atomlab GI to Profile Rear and Demo Mary-Kate Front (rear rim bent)
Tires- Front 1.95 and Rear 1.95 (Kenda k841)
Chain- KMC

SHIOKAZE 11

I freakin love Edward Sharpe! His music always gives edits a chill vibe that I really enjoy.

From the Ground Up jut released the full Pops Fabrication documentary. Its really interesting to see the minds behind that company. They have some interesting products and I liked seeing their thought process.

Skateboarder Magazine's 2nd Annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Skate Jam

I may be going to this if I have time. Everyone in the OC and LA area should go too, its for a good cause and will definitely be a good time.

Michael Chacon Quickie

Chacon is a beast at old school tricks. Spins are his specialty but his new school moves aren't too shabby either.

Chris Delia iko iko

I haven't seen anything from Chris in a while. His style is truly unique. Its not old school or new school haha. That last clip was pretty funny too!

XXLSTYLE TRICK TIPS

If your just starting to ride FGFS, these videos might be a little helpful.

AJ Austin Bruiser Check

The new prototype Bruisers are looking so sick! In my opinion, the bb should still be a little higher and the tire clearance should be reduced. A 2.5 is completely unnecessary I think a 2.3 should be the max anyone should ride and even thats pushing it.

LPR Bangkok 2011

The guy with the Durcus is pretty solid. I love his 180 to barspin slider, it looked super smoooth!

Mike's Bomber Pro

Mike's Bomber Pro restoration is such a beauty. With its slick paint job and top of the line parts, I've got to say its in my top 5 favorite bikes. It's unfortunate that he's selling it already. Be sure to check out his Youtube channel I'm subscribed and you should be too!

Enzo "For the Hood"

Some smooth stuff going on in this one!

SKYLMT: Steven Jensen

If you remember from the previous SKYLMT post, I said that they were releasing this video today. All I have to say is wow. The cinematography is amazing and it really captures the essence of FGFS as well as Jensen. It was only released today yet it has been getting a ton of publicity. It even already has over 14,000 views! I feel like SKYLMT/Colby Elrick is really going to help take FGFS to a whole other level.

Cole-Sore

I find it interesting that RYD is so good at making puns for edit titles. maybe a prerequisite to being added to their team is to have a pun-able name.

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Swoo: May Edit

I'm really liking the editing in this one. It really complimented Swoo's awesome riding!

JBall Solo Edit

Jballs been getting a lot better and the fact that hes throwing shit down on a Cutter is awesome. If you haven't ridden a Cutter, they aren't the easiest to land tricks on.

C'est la Merckx II teaser

Haha I thought this bit was really funny. All the effects distracted me from the riding though.

tom mosher - leftover footage

Tom Mosher is no Doubt one of the biggest influences on FGFS. He was one of the first really FGFS riders I saw and ever since hes been coming hard. Be sure to check out The Moshpit for more updates on him.

5.18.2011

Damnn I hate/love teasers. Wednesday SKYLMT is supposed to have something special in store. I'll definitely be on the look out.

Blackened Marco in Fukuoka

Marco's style is so smooth and fast! Plenty of riders try to copy him but none come close to beating his style!

SHIOKAZE'11 TRICK CONTEST

Its amazing how far FGFS has come. Last year at Shiokaze, Kozo landed the first backflip and now this year, hes got them down consistently. As for the other riders, their style definitely has changed in a good way. They're attempting bigger moves and this kind of legitimizes FGFS as an actual sport.

Bastien Raoux: Untitled

I'm loving that build. A lot of thee spots were in a previous edit by Quentin Oddo if it looks familiar.

FGG - Laurent Pili

I'm loving the Cutter steeze. The Cutter is easily my favorite frame (ride wise) and its awesome to see Laurent Pili rip on one!

City Grounds just released this edit of their weekend in SF. I'm really digging the vibe of the whole edit. Its mellow and relaxing all while showcasing the major moves at Red Bull Ride and Style.

alkr® | Work Sessions - Fixed Gear London

The first edition of Work Sessions features Andy Ellis from Fixed Gear London/Fixed Mag. This was a great way to start off the series and I'll be sure to keep on watching them as they come.

Birth of the Butcher

These are some of my favorite kinds of videos. I love seeing how things are made and this is no different. It kinda gets me interested in frame building/welding, it looks hella fun!

BIRTH OF A BUTCHER from EighthInch on Vimeo.

"SPRING'S spins" by O'PIGNON fixed wear.

I like the smooth editing in this one. A lot of old school tricks mixed with some new school moves, I like it! Check out their site HERE.

Bangin' Bikes: Kris' New Eighth Inch Butcher

In my opinion, this build is way better than his last. For one, I wasn't really feeling the orange "rootbeer" color and I'm a sucker for raw frames. Secondly, I love the new wheel set up. Eighth Inch Buellers are gonna be huge once they go on sale and the Resist Nomad tires are probably my favorite 700c tire. Kris really needs a new camera though, NO MORE IPHONE SHOTS haha. Keep your eyes on Locked Cog for updates.

Bike Check as seen on Eighth Inch Rider Page:
Wheels: Eighthinch Bueller
Tires: 45c Resist Nomad

It kills me that I haven't surfed since summer and this edit made it even worse. Surfing is one thing I suck at but love to do. Maybe I'll get some free time now that AP testing is over!

Planet Hops in Daegu City

Planet Hops' edits are always visually pleasing. The editing and music is always great and it really just makes it a pleasure to watch.

The rumors are true! Chrome has officially released that they will be opening the doors of their brand new Chicago store on Saturday, June 4, 2011. If your in the area I would definitely stop by I'm sure the new storefront will be amazing! It's great to see that Chrome is expanding they really deserve it. To Live & Ride in L.A. - Chinatown Teaser

To Live & Ride in L.A. loves teasing the fixed gear commuinity. I'm digging all the trailers and its unfortunate that I haven't been able to see the whole film yet.

84kick Riding in San Francisco

Heres some footy of 84Kick in San Fran. I'm really digging that frame although I wouldn't trick on it if it were mine.

Trailer - "From the Ground Up: Pops Fabrication"

This comes from the "From the Ground Up" documentary series. According the the Vimeo Page, "From the Ground Up:" is a mini-documentary series that will showcase successful people in their own right - small business owners, artists, entertainers, etc. This trailer showcases Pops Fabrication which was formerly Shorty Fatz. I had no idea the company changed haha. I was always on the fence about Shorty Fatz, their frames were interesting and kind of cool but I don't think I would actually buy one. I dunno, to each his own I guess.

Pissedead Short 3

Like always good stuff from Andrew Voegelli. It makes me happy that he isn't on a sketchy build anymore.

LDG: The Hammer Freestyle Frameset

I stopped by Livery Design Gruppe this weekend to get some shots of their brand new trick frame, The Hammer. This frame has been altered and redesigned for well over a year and I think the final product is as perfect as a FGFS frames gonna get. Pictures really don't do the frame justice. In person its the sexiest thing I've laid eyes on. The Army Green Color is the tits and it really isn't as heavy as it looks. The fork looks like it'd weigh a ton but honestly, its not that bad. The frame on the other hand is actually pretty light, compared to my Bruiser at least. They're getting some more in pretty soon so if your looking to buy one ($550 for frame and fork) email them at info@ldgruppe.com or visit their SITE for more information on the Freestyle Frame. Ohh and more pictures on my Flickr.

Vince Felix for Us Versus Them Handcrafted Straps

I really dig the craftsmanship of these straps. You can really tell that they aren't just spit out of a factory and to me, its cool to know that they were made by someones own two hands. Unfortunately, the punk rock style isn't really my style so I hope Vince makes different looks too. Other than that good stuff from UVT. More info on the straps on their BLOG.

BB17 v2 and All-City Fuzzy Bars

Introducing two new bars! BB17 just got in their v2 bars and All-City just recived their first shipment of Fuzzy Bars. These are two companies that I have a lot of respect for and they keep coming out with awesome products. The BB17 bars are IMO the most popular in the game but we'll see if All-City can take that away from them. Check out more info on the bars HERE (BB17) and HERE (All-City).

Chrome Brigadier: Get Gone

Like I've said before, Chrome is one of my favorite companies, I've been a fan of them since the OG hipster days and their products never fail to please me. Although their bags are widely used for cycling, in this video they show that their bags have a multitude of uses. No matter who you are or what your interests are, I'm sure that Chrome has a bag that will suit your needs!

Locals | Fixie Riders

These guys are really just having a great time. LBSs need to promote more group/shop rides. To me, a bike shop should try to help out the community as much as possible. It's unfortunate that my local shops don't put them on very much.

6:00AM at Stoner Park

Packy got some style for sure and Stoner Park is one of the dopest parks I've seen (in edits haha). Having a park without the annoying skaters in the way is the best. There needs to be more parks that allow bikes.

QUENTIN ODDO spring edit

Anyone know where this is? The architecture of some spots look dope and Quentin really uses the spot well.

FixedGear Geneva

All around smooth riding from the guys over in Geneva. It seems like they've got a bunch of sick parks over there. Gets me in the mood to get out and ride some new ones.

~@RAIL FAIL!!!

What a freakin' boss! Brads got some huge balls for sure. I doubt I'd have the balls to even attempt something half the size of that.

Teisuke Morimoto: Street Fiend

I spotted this one over at Pedal Consumption. The BLK MRKT Street Fiend is probably one of my favorite frames now. Although it closely resembles their DJ frames, I love it. The low top tube is dope and the BB is high but nothing crazy. They haven't released much information so I don't know if its a 700c or 26" frame but hopefully this one is a 700c frame because the wheelbase is too long (gotta make that seat tube cutout look sexy!).

How To Build Yourself a Fixed

Although I don't agree with some of the advice they're giving, this is a creative video for sure. I love the editing and the music really made it mellow.

Sorry, about the price of milk.

That frame color is sickkkk. theres some pretty smooth tricks in this one, definitely a good way to start off the morning.

Dawson Phan: Broken!

Good stuff from Dawson. I never knew he got picked up by Velocity, it seems like their team is huge, I wanna see a rider section on their site!

City Grounds: Welcome to the Team Corey

Coreys been getting a lot of attention lately as shown through his new sponsors. He now rides for both Citygrounds and All-City, congrats man! He deserves it too. His tuck no handers are sick and he stays true to the FGFS roots.

Make-over!

The blogs got a new look what do you guys think? :)

Seth Kimbrough "that dawwwg"

I'm loving the style and creativity in this one. Way too many bangers to point out. One thing that did stand out to me though was all the grinds. Kimbrough gets extremely creative and they're all so smooth. Unlike on FGFS. IMO grinds on FGFS will never compare to that of bmx. Fixed Gears really are limited and a lot of the time, the grinds are slow and awkward. I'll admit, some riders can pull them off and make them look good (Slum especially) but to me, I'd rather focus on other tricks. But hey, to each his own.

We Laugh Alot

It's great to laugh at other people's pain. At least you know its not you! Other than that, I'm digging the nose mannual to wheelies, I wanna try that out once I get nose mannies down. I've eaten so much shit learning them.

Anthony Rasca Bike Check

This is in Long Beach? I think? Correct me if I'm wrong. Anthonys got a pretty solid setup for himself minus the mismatch pedals and loose BB. He rides for Livevil, a clothing company based out of LB. Check them out HERE. I'm really digging that baseball tee although I dislike the Livevil logo/font, I hate when companies try to look like Supreme.

USFixed Intro

I'm not really sure what this group is but they're based out of Huntington Beach so I gotta support that local steeeze! Updates and more info soon!

AP Testing

I've been cramming for AP Tests recently and thats why there hasn't been too many pots. Sorry I haven't updated you guys till now, I've just been super busy. On the bright side, next week I'll just be watching movies and doing labs in my AP classes which means more riding and more posts! I'll try and update my current ride as well. I switched to 26" and I actually like it so far. in a week I'll be able to really put it to the test and I'm stoked. Ohh and I suck at building wheels, sketchy ass shit right now haha and today I broke two spokes on my rear doing a feeble so I gotta get that fixed up soon as well. My wallet hasn't been liking me too much recently...

UNKNOWN BIKE ALF LV3 AD

I don't mind watching a hot chick on a nice bike ;) Unknowns newest addition is their fast frame the LV3. Limited quantities (not enough ordered) so its limited edition. Good looking frame either way. I wanna see a purple one like in the teaser pic!

My Daily: Broken Chukkers

So the other day, I was riding around and decided to go home and take a break. I opened my garage and left my bike on the floor not thinking about it too much. To my dismay, my mom came home and wasn't looking and ran over my rear wheel. From my room, I heard the wheel getting smashed from my room and ran out to the garage. Words cannot explain how I felt at that moment. I was just couldn't believe it. Luckily, nothing happened to anything else or so it seems at the moment. Later that night, I took my wheel apart and the bad news kept on coming. I was stupid enough to forget to remove my cogs and lockrings before unlacing the wheel. The 14t side was okay and spokes came out fine but the 18t was some trouble, I bent the spokes so they could curl out. After removing all the spokes, I tried with all my might to take the cog and lockring off but no dice. The next day, I went to Epic Bmx to get a new hub (Demolition Mary Kate) and asked them to try to remove the lockring but they too could not do it. After that, I went over to Discovery Bicycle to ask for them to remove it as well as to lace the wheel. They wanted to charge me $108 for spokes and $80 for labor and there was no way in hell I was spending that much. Next, I checked performance and the prices were even higher than that of Discovery bicycles. In their parking lot though, I called Epic and Loc informed me that they charged $25 per wheel and $20 for a bag of spokes. A hell of a lot cheaper than the other two shops. I also think they would do a better job as well because they come from a bmx background. So if you're thinking about getting a wheel build I'd reccomend Epic. Unfortunately, I didn't get to drop it off because I had church but I'm planning to go today. That night I was still faced with the question of how to remove that cog and lockring. This morning I woke up with an idea. I would rotofix one side and use a chain whip to keep the hub stable (duct tapped the handle of the whip to my frame). Luckily, everything worked as I planned. I then used a hammer and a flat head screwdriver to hit the lockring loose. My determination was second to none, I hammered the shit out of that thing. That moment when the lockring finally gave way was unbelievable. I was like a kid on Christmas. Now, I've got my Profile Hub, Demolition Mary-Kate Hub, and Atom lab GI's waiting to be built up. I'm giving 26" a chance I don't feel like I'm going to like it but we'll see if I'm proven wrong.

Steven Jensen: Arizona Edit

WTH! How is Jensen so good? I think that frame really fits his style and really allows him to utilize his bmx background to the fullest. His grind are getting better every edit and his fakie wheelies are incomparable to anyone else in the FGFS game. Props to Jensen!

Swoo: Shredding the Winter Rust

Swoo's back at it with his newest edit. I miss him away from tricktrack it seems to be dying a slow and painful death. There needs to be new or more mods! Ohh and less kids answering questions incorrectly haha. Well enough of my rant, I'm really diggin how Swoo incorporated his sponsors and for just study break clips, its super dope. Check his BLOG.

A Day of Testing Spots

I love riding around finding new places to trick and this video really captures the essence of that. Trying new stuff on new stuff hoping to God that you don't eat too much shit.

Jake&Jeff March Edit

These guys are killing it for Pedalhard. Jake's barspins are looking really clean and Jeff's got some solid moves in there as well. Congrats to Jeff for getting added to the Eighth Inch roster.

2011 Xlife team weekend fun time

Some sweeeet stuff from Xlife. I'm loving that funkytown steeze! I'm kind of iffy on the Xlife product line. I really like some of their products like the Superstar Revolte Stem but some other products just strike me as odd. Either way, check out their shop HERE to make your own decision.

Upcoming Events

Two events are coming up that I'm super stoked about. The first is in Orange County's neighbor LA. This event would be the Wheres the Hell is Waldo scavenger race and trick jam in April 30th. If you could make it out, I'd highly reccomend it. Unfortunately I won't be going because its the same day as my Prom. Next on the list is the Mini Jam at the Wheel Talk Compund. I've always dreamed about riding the Compund and for those of you in the area, now your chance. Its gonna have music, tricks, prizes, and FOOD. Hit up the events if your in the area and email me the pics!

Oscar Khan Bike Check

I think the 14 Bike Co. Prototype ESB is a step in the right direction. The pros I see with this frame are the top tube angle (perfect IMO), tire clearances, positive bb (yes thats in the pros), and the seat tube. More specifically, I like how its a mix of the current freestyle bikes with a little bit of the track roots. The way I see it, this frame will allow you to go big while throwing in tech on the way. The perfect frame in my eyes! Only thing I don't like is the dropouts, just not for me.

Lisboa Weekend

Geometrick just threw up this edit of their Lisbon weekend and it looked like a mighty good time. I love how theres contests popping up everywhere. It kind of legitimizes our sport. I hope that with the increase of contests comes the increase in the media and big companies' attention. We gotta go mainstream with our shieeeet!

rideBLT - [be.el.te - edit no.1]

Those are some super solid products. I'm loving that oven messenger bag. It looks like a really good size, its got a bunch of pockets, and the strap looks really comfortable. They should get some people to review that bad boy!

Emi Brown Pt. 1

Here's your daily dose of MASHING! I still miss distance and speed riding a hell of a lot. I'm hoping to get a job to fund a mash bike this summer. That way, all senor year I can slack off and ride all day ery'day! Ohh yea and this video haha. Its got some gnarly hill bombing and it made me really look forward to part 2.

AJ Austin Cranktoppin'

You gotta love the power of the Milwaukee Bruiser. In my opinion, that frame is hella underrated. I loved that stall at :15 and all of the wall taps. I think AJ Austin pulls off some of the cleanest bars. No matter what it is, flatground, 180s, banks, stairs, or anything, he always pulls them off super clean.

Similar Styles

In my opinion, these two riders have similar styles. They pull off similar lines and are both super fast in their maneuvers. I peronally prefered the first edit. Maj gets super high on his hops and his flow seems a little better in my opinion. I liked that song on the 2nd one though. Gotta love my Pokemon.

Fixed Master Round 2

That looks like the biggest turn out at a FGFS event ever! Some crazy shit goes down in this edit. Including Dew giving Wonka some stiff competition, they even ended up in a tie. Wonka goes big but I like Dew's style better, his tricks are more smooth while Wonka's are more bmx.

Fixed Soldiers III

Man the fixed gear scene in Barcelona looks crazyyyy! I wish it was as big here. I've got my fingers crossed for an increase in the community aspect of riding this summer.

Tyler Johnson Crank Arm Slide

sorry for the lack of pots this passing weekend, I have bronchitis so I've been in bed and I've had some big tests I needed to study for. That spot really is perfect for learning crank arm slides. Tyler Johnsons a boss for toughing up and going for it. I would've pissed myself! One thing I'd wanna try there though is rail hops. that'd be so dopee!

Dylan "Fish and Chips" Hurst - I Am Los Angeles

I love this series of videos. Its a great concept and I'd be interested to watch something like this in other cities. Fish and Chips is probably one of the smoothest riders I've seen. His spins are fast and his transitions are even better. His style is sort of the way I think FGFS should go. A lot of his tricks utilize the fixed drive train and I love it. This is a definite must see, Dylan talks about the movement and the LA scene. Some real interesting stuff!

Citygrounds Trip to AZ

This is so goooooood! So many bangers in this edit. Plus the return of Corey! I thought that kid died haha. He was going hard on the scene and it jut seemed like he disappeared. Luckily for us, hes back and better than ever. I feel like his style really changed just watch to see if you agree. His tuck no handers are boss, Matt's park riding is killer and Jensen is just a beast. Definitely one of the better edits.

Eighth Inch 14mm Bueller Hubs!

Kris was testing out the Bueller rims a while back but stopped for some reason so I kind of assumed they weren't going to go into production anymore. I'm glad to announce that these rims are in fact going to be prideced in both 700c and 26". They are also going to be accompanied with the brand new Eighth Inch Bueller Hubs. I like how they include the 14mm axle instead of charging you a crapload for the conversion kit like other companies. At the moment, I'm hoping for a reasonable price on these hubs. Eighth Inch prices their products extremely competitivly so I'll be on the edge of my seat waiting for the pricing. On a related note, I just lost EighthInch's daily competition :( check out their facebook if you want to be a part of their comps.

P.D.P 3

Shit went down at P.D.P! Those BB17 riders are so goood! I loved watching the bunnyhop comp. Everyone there had mad hops! Was there an actual winner or was it a tie because more than one person cleared that top height?

LDG: Forging the Hammer

LDG holding it down for OC! LDG is one of my favorite local shops and this is exactly why. They come out with some of the best products around all while still having that local vibe. I remember going in last year around the time of Mid-West Mayhem and asking about their upcoming freestyle frame. I got to see the geometry of its initial phases and I was already extremely impressed. Oddly enough, they began making the frame in an awkward transition phase of FGFS and I noticed that. Luckily, the LDG crew noticed this as well and did not push the production. They instead changed the geometry 5 times and really but the strength of the frame to the test. Their ability to cater to rider's needs is the reason for such an awesome frame. I have no doubt that this frame will be one of the best in the game and I can't wait for it to come out on 4/20/11 (coincidence?). I'll be sure to ride over and check out them out when the time comes. Until then, you can read up on the process HERE or you can buy LDG parts at their web store HERE. I highly recommend their Split Rib Grip, one of the comfiest grips I've ever felt!

Return of the Viking

It really has been a long time since Prolly's last edit. I read his blog and it seems like FGFS is the last on his priorities list. He gets mad flow from companies and it seems like hes getting all he can. Despite that, in this little edit, Prolly shows off what hes still got. I love the action at the banks, that spot looks hella fun.

Best Bodin/ Sadio Bikes/ Brothers Bikes

This guy shreds! I have no idea where Sadio keeps on finding these crazy riders. They really are beginning to stack up an unbelievable team. This video lead me to the Sadio website and I was lurkin around and I saw the team page. Why is Chris Fonseca on the team? He hasn't done anything in a long time, I thought he wa over FGFS.

Eighth Inch Butcher Build

I don't know why but I always dig build videos especially with new frames. Theres something about building up a bike that is appealing visually. I dunno, just me?

Chunk's Revenge Garrison Bumstead

Poor little Chunks the Bumsteads mascot has passed away and this edit is in his memory. The little guy would have been proud to be represented in this edit. Garrison holding it down! I loved that bench grind.

Mike in Paris and Portugal

Definitly deserved second in Paris! Mike shredsss I love his OG Tricktrack steeze its real smooth. Why's he on the TRK again? Did he break his other frame (Mordecai I think)? No matter the frame, Mikes got some big moves and when the adrenaline kicks in, the competition is screwed.

About Unknown Bike Co

This a cool little bit just informing the viewer on the roots of Unknown. I love how FGFS opened up a whole new market for companies, making it possible for more people to live off of what they love. Vincents a boss for bringing Unknown over to the US because they make some of my favorite parts.

The Music Box

This is truly a masterpiece. In my opinion, this is Daniel Campos' best work to this date. The guy is freakishly talented both at dancing and directing, as portrayed through this video. I've literally watched this like 5 times its that good. The creativity is outstanding from beginning till end. I especially liked that ending of the whole film. Definitely a must watch.

rideBLT Sunday Edit Quatro

Some really solid riding in this edit. I really really really miss going fast it sucks to not have a job :( Also, I'm really digging some of the set-ups these guys have going on. For now, I'll just admire those beautiful fast bikes.

I Made a Twitter

I've been sick for the last week and during one day of the week, I went home sick so I was like fuck it why not make a Twitter. At first I didn't think I was going to use it or like it much but I was so wrong! That shits addictinggg! It allows you to stay connected with other riders and brands and even celebrities! I love the info that you get out of it and @fixieleaks makes things really interesting. If you have one, follow me @gnarniabikes or if you don't have one, make one its hella amusing!

SHMOB saTTurdays: sTTorm sessions vol. 1

These guys are progressing really well. They're growing more balls and going bigger its great! That fall in the beginning looking rough! Legs flopped around and everything! I'm stoked to see more of the Shmob Saturday edits.
The G.O.A.T frame is soooo fresh. The Grime crew really helped making a kick as frame. In my opinion, its way better than the Yo Mang. The Yo Mang is more of an experimental frame, this is more of the final product.

GOATrealdealINSPACE-thumb-500x350-12751

FGG: West Jam

This edit really portrays the gnarliness that went down at West Jam. USA all the way! Our riders killed it especially Wonka who took 1st. You can really tell how much he is pushing himself even if it means taking some bad falls.

W-Base: PDP3 in Taiwan

Dope contestttttt! There really needs to be another contest in Socal soon. Spots are everywhere it'd be so killer!

SNDTRCK: West Jam Edit

FGFS is evolving at such a fast rate! Riders are going harder than ever I love it! There really needs to be more competitions though preferable close to my area!

Unknown Bikes: Korea Team Teaser

It seems like Asian countries have edits on lock. In my opinion, the editing and filming far surpass American edit. I also like their style a lot more. US goes big but Korea is just so smooth. Props to Unknown for putting out a killer team.

Torey Thorton For Loose Nuts

Toreys got some sick moves. He really knows the potential of a simple manny pad. I love that little section, so smooth! I'm also really digging the bars Torey has on his Sup Mang they look beefy!

Bangin' Bikes: Jake Ricker's Leader 722TS

This is a pretty sweet set-up. I love Leader's fast frames they're so sexy! I love the simplicity of this build. Black and white is so simple yet so clean. Truly a beauty! Seen via Heavy Pedal.
