Almost Summer.

OC kids holding it down! First of all I love seeing the youngins' riding FGFS because its a sign that FGFS has a future. Secondly, I love seeing edits of riders in the OC. The community here isn't as tight as before but its nice to know that there are still riders out there.

Tyler Louie in Bay-Sicz Shit

Tyler Louie is on fire. He has improved so much since his first SHMOB edit. I'm excited to see what else he has in store for the world of FGFS.

Midwest Mayhem Video Dump

Heres a two edits and a teaser for MWM II. Its crazy how much things have changed since the first MWM.

Volume Thrasher V2

Volume just released the info on their new Thrasher Frame. Its got some major changes but to keep it simple, they made it more current. Check out the real details on Volume's Blog.

Bangin' Bikes: Joey's Volume Cutter V6

As I've said before, the Volume Cutter is one of my favorite frames. On their newest model, Volume really stepped it up. The added tire clearances, curved seat tube, and awesome paint job really makes it one hell of a bike. I especially like Joey's build because of its solid components and its color scheme. it really does make his whip look classy as F***.

Specs:
- 53cm V6 Cutter
- TREE sprocket
- Demo cranks
- SNAFU pedals and stem
- Gusset Open Prison bars
- Dual 700c H+ Eeros w/ Resist hub (rear)
- Turbo saddle

Where Are The Pyramids? | Desert Trailer

This would be such a dope trip! It'd be super sketchy on those small tires though. Doing that ride on a FGFS bike would be way more comfy but I give these riders props for using what they have.

Fixed Gear Underground Race I, Jakarta, Indonesia

You might want to save this one for when you have a little more time seeing that it is 15 minutes long. Once you do sit down and watch it though, it will definitely be worth your time. I love how the fixed scene in Indo is growing bigger everyday. I also want to thank BLT for putting out such a good video!

EIGHTHINCH / MID-WEST MAYHEM 2011

Mid-West Mayhem 2 is gonna be off the chain. The first one was where FGFS really took off so it'll be hard to follow up. Eighth Inch does a good job in getting their riders to these events.

Bangin' Bikes: Jesse's V2 RYD Havoc

RYD just released a few new parts and the Havoc V2 is one of them. I'm not the biggest fan of RYD but I'm really digging the paint job. Jesse's got some solid parts on his build too.

Packy Golan for Palms Cycle

Mannnn this kids getting good. I remember in his first edits he threw 180 sliders everywhere. It seems like his tricks are a lot more diverse now. Congrats on the sponsorship!

BBG Chronicles: Episode 7

It amazes me how these guys put out an edit every week. I love watching them progress and seeing new spots in their area.

XXLSTYLE TRICK TIPS 4 and 5

XXLSTYLE just posted some more how to video. Be sure to watch them if your just starting out, I'm sure they'll help.

Japan Gets FIXED!

The people of Hawaii decided to help out Japan by doing this island ride. I think its wonderful that they're helping out and theres no better way to help out that by doing something you love.

UNICORN EDIT #1

Real mellow vibe in this edit! Good Job Ride Unicorn it really broought me back to the old days.

United Soloist Fixie - Male Version

Now this is how you advertise a bike! The concept was really creative and it actually gave me the urge to look them up.

Bangin' Bikes: Marcos' Unknown V2

I've been working with Marcos on developing some new straps recently and not only does he make some bomb straps (more on those later) but hes got a solid build too! Be sure to check out MOLECULE for products, theres a lot in store!

Tom and Tony Texas Cookout - Get Me a Damn Beer

The quality isn't the greatest but there is definitely some solid moves in this one. I like how I've seen a lot of the spots in bmx edits. It just shows how the sports evolving.

Surabaya Fixed Gear : Weekend RoadRunner Recce Ride part 2

This makes me miss distance rides. I want a fast bike really badddddd.

Houghton Nights 2

This park looks like so much fun! Its not too far from me so maybe I'll hit it up soon! I'm glad to see that Mckeag got a new bike. It sucks that his Proto Thrasher got stolen.

GORBIS: Stay Chund

I haven't seen a Gorilla Kilroy in a while! I remember when they first came out and everyone wanted one. Unfortunately a lot of them broke. Thats what you get for not putting on gussets!

GAGEFOO SPRING 2011

I haven't seen anything from Gage in a while. Its good to see that he's still at it. A lot of riders stopped posting on Tricktrack and it sometimes seems like they dropped off the face of the FGFS world. I really wish Tricktrack regained what it once was.

Bangin' Bikes: My Bruiser on 26"

If you've been following my blog, you know that my mom ran over my rear wheel a while back. I looked at that situation as a positive seeing it as the perfect time to try dual 26". I'll do another post soon explaining my views but just know that I think they both have pros and cons. Now back to my actual bike. I would be running dual 1.95s like in the picture but I ripped two spokes out on a grind and it disfigured the rim (permanently untrue). Also, I'm running a small and it has unlimited barspin clearance. In addition, theres a little wiggle room with a 1.95 but nothing crazy (if you untrue rims quick I'd stick to 1.95s or so). The bottom bracket on the frame is also a little low even on 700c but its not unbearable.

Specs:
Frame- Small Milwaukee Bruiser
Fork- Leader Shadow Fork
Headset- Tange
Stem- Random 25.4 50mm Ebay Stem
Bars- Blk Mrkt Bada Bing Bars 28 inches wide
Grips- ODI Longneck XL
Seatpost and Clamp- Random
Seat- Charge Bucket
Cranks- 160mm Demolition Medials
Pedals- Primo Pc
Straps- Homemade but now Molecule Protos
Sprocket- 36t Mosh
Cog- 12t Sadio Cog and Lockring
Wheels- Dual 26" Atomlab GI to Profile Rear and Demo Mary-Kate Front (rear rim bent)
Tires- Front 1.95 and Rear 1.95 (Kenda k841)
Chain- KMC

SHIOKAZE 11

I freakin love Edward Sharpe! His music always gives edits a chill vibe that I really enjoy.

From the Ground Up jut released the full Pops Fabrication documentary. Its really interesting to see the minds behind that company. They have some interesting products and I liked seeing their thought process.

Skateboarder Magazine's 2nd Annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Skate Jam

I may be going to this if I have time. Everyone in the OC and LA area should go too, its for a good cause and will definitely be a good time.

Michael Chacon Quickie

Chacon is a beast at old school tricks. Spins are his specialty but his new school moves aren't too shabby either.

Chris Delia iko iko

I haven't seen anything from Chris in a while. His style is truly unique. Its not old school or new school haha. That last clip was pretty funny too!

XXLSTYLE TRICK TIPS

If your just starting to ride FGFS, these videos might be a little helpful.

AJ Austin Bruiser Check

The new prototype Bruisers are looking so sick! In my opinion, the bb should still be a little higher and the tire clearance should be reduced. A 2.5 is completely unnecessary I think a 2.3 should be the max anyone should ride and even thats pushing it.

LPR Bangkok 2011

The guy with the Durcus is pretty solid. I love his 180 to barspin slider, it looked super smoooth!

Mike's Bomber Pro

Mike's Bomber Pro restoration is such a beauty. With its slick paint job and top of the line parts, I've got to say its in my top 5 favorite bikes. It's unfortunate that he's selling it already. Be sure to check out his Youtube channel I'm subscribed and you should be too!

Enzo "For the Hood"

Some smooth stuff going on in this one!

SKYLMT: Steven Jensen

If you remember from the previous SKYLMT post, I said that they were releasing this video today. All I have to say is wow. The cinematography is amazing and it really captures the essence of FGFS as well as Jensen. It was only released today yet it has been getting a ton of publicity. It even already has over 14,000 views! I feel like SKYLMT/Colby Elrick is really going to help take FGFS to a whole other level.

Cole-Sore

I find it interesting that RYD is so good at making puns for edit titles. maybe a prerequisite to being added to their team is to have a pun-able name.

Swoo: May Edit

I'm really liking the editing in this one. It really complimented Swoo's awesome riding!

JBall Solo Edit

Jballs been getting a lot better and the fact that hes throwing shit down on a Cutter is awesome. If you haven't ridden a Cutter, they aren't the easiest to land tricks on.

C'est la Merckx II teaser

Haha I thought this bit was really funny. All the effects distracted me from the riding though.

tom mosher - leftover footage

Tom Mosher is no Doubt one of the biggest influences on FGFS. He was one of the first really FGFS riders I saw and ever since hes been coming hard. Be sure to check out The Moshpit for more updates on him.

5.18.2011

Damnn I hate/love teasers. Wednesday SKYLMT is supposed to have something special in store. I'll definitely be on the look out.

Blackened Marco in Fukuoka

Marco's style is so smooth and fast! Plenty of riders try to copy him but none come close to beating his style!

SHIOKAZE'11 TRICK CONTEST

Its amazing how far FGFS has come. Last year at Shiokaze, Kozo landed the first backflip and now this year, hes got them down consistently. As for the other riders, their style definitely has changed in a good way. They're attempting bigger moves and this kind of legitimizes FGFS as an actual sport.

Bastien Raoux: Untitled

I'm loving that build. A lot of thee spots were in a previous edit by Quentin Oddo if it looks familiar.

FGG - Laurent Pili

I'm loving the Cutter steeze. The Cutter is easily my favorite frame (ride wise) and its awesome to see Laurent Pili rip on one!

Damnnnn such a gnarly fall. I would definitely not recommended watching past the song if blood creeps you out.

Ride+Style/Mission Workshop

City Grounds just released this edit of their weekend in SF. I'm really digging the vibe of the whole edit. Its mellow and relaxing all while showcasing the major moves at Red Bull Ride and Style.

alkr® | Work Sessions - Fixed Gear London

The first edition of Work Sessions features Andy Ellis from Fixed Gear London/Fixed Mag. This was a great way to start off the series and I'll be sure to keep on watching them as they come.

Birth of the Butcher

These are some of my favorite kinds of videos. I love seeing how things are made and this is no different. It kinda gets me interested in frame building/welding, it looks hella fun!

BIRTH OF A BUTCHER from EighthInch on Vimeo.

"SPRING'S spins" by O'PIGNON fixed wear.

I like the smooth editing in this one. A lot of old school tricks mixed with some new school moves, I like it! Check out their site HERE.

Bangin' Bikes: Kris' New Eighth Inch Butcher

In my opinion, this build is way better than his last. For one, I wasn't really feeling the orange "rootbeer" color and I'm a sucker for raw frames. Secondly, I love the new wheel set up. Eighth Inch Buellers are gonna be huge once they go on sale and the Resist Nomad tires are probably my favorite 700c tire. Kris really needs a new camera though, NO MORE IPHONE SHOTS haha. Keep your eyes on Locked Cog for updates.

Bike Check as seen on Eighth Inch Rider Page:
Wheels: Eighthinch Bueller
Tires: 45c Resist Nomad
Fork: Leader Reaper
Bars: Leader Trickstar
Grips: Shadow Conspiracy Thirteen

SFX: Surf

It kills me that I haven't surfed since summer and this edit made it even worse. Surfing is one thing I suck at but love to do. Maybe I'll get some free time now that AP testing is over!

Planet Hops in Daegu City

Planet Hops' edits are always visually pleasing. The editing and music is always great and it really just makes it a pleasure to watch.

Chrome Open's its Chicago Doors

The rumors are true! Chrome has officially released that they will be opening the doors of their brand new Chicago store on Saturday, June 4, 2011. If your in the area I would definitely stop by I'm sure the new storefront will be amazing! It's great to see that Chrome is expanding they really deserve it. They should open up a storefront in Orange County or Los Angeles area; plenty of riders around here!

To Live & Ride in L.A. - Chinatown Teaser

To Live & Ride in L.A. loves teasing the fixed gear commuinity. I'm digging all the trailers and its unfortunate that I haven't been able to see the whole film yet.

84kick Riding in San Francisco

Heres some footy of 84Kick in San Fran. I'm really digging that frame although I wouldn't trick on it if it were mine.

Trailer - "From the Ground Up: Pops Fabrication"

This comes from the "From the Ground Up" documentary series. According the the Vimeo Page, "From the Ground Up:" is a mini-documentary series that will showcase successful people in their own right - small business owners, artists, entertainers, etc. This trailer showcases Pops Fabrication which was formerly Shorty Fatz. I had no idea the company changed haha. I was always on the fence about Shorty Fatz, their frames were interesting and kind of cool but I don't think I would actually buy one. I dunno, to each his own I guess.

Pissedead Short 3

Like always good stuff from Andrew Voegelli. It makes me happy that he isn't on a sketchy build anymore.

LDG: The Hammer Freestyle Frameset

I stopped by Livery Design Gruppe this weekend to get some shots of their brand new trick frame, The Hammer. This frame has been altered and redesigned for well over a year and I think the final product is as perfect as a FGFS frames gonna get. Pictures really don't do the frame justice. In person its the sexiest thing I've laid eyes on. The Army Green Color is the tits and it really isn't as heavy as it looks. The fork looks like it'd weigh a ton but honestly, its not that bad. The frame on the other hand is actually pretty light, compared to my Bruiser at least. They're getting some more in pretty soon so if your looking to buy one ($550 for frame and fork) email them at info@ldgruppe.com or visit their SITE for more information on the Freestyle Frame. Ohh and more pictures on my Flickr.

Vince Felix for Us Versus Them Handcrafted Straps

I really dig the craftsmanship of these straps. You can really tell that they aren't just spit out of a factory and to me, its cool to know that they were made by someones own two hands. Unfortunately, the punk rock style isn't really my style so I hope Vince makes different looks too. Other than that good stuff from UVT. More info on the straps on their BLOG.

BB17 v2 and All-City Fuzzy Bars

Introducing two new bars! BB17 just got in their v2 bars and All-City just recived their first shipment of Fuzzy Bars. These are two companies that I have a lot of respect for and they keep coming out with awesome products. The BB17 bars are IMO the most popular in the game but we'll see if All-City can take that away from them. Check out more info on the bars HERE (BB17) and HERE (All-City).

Chrome Brigadier: Get Gone

Like I've said before, Chrome is one of my favorite companies, I've been a fan of them since the OG hipster days and their products never fail to please me. Although their bags are widely used for cycling, in this video they show that their bags have a multitude of uses. No matter who you are or what your interests are, I'm sure that Chrome has a bag that will suit your needs!

Locals | Fixie Riders

These guys are really just having a great time. LBSs need to promote more group/shop rides. To me, a bike shop should try to help out the community as much as possible. It's unfortunate that my local shops don't put them on very much.

6:00AM at Stoner Park

Packy got some style for sure and Stoner Park is one of the dopest parks I've seen (in edits haha). Having a park without the annoying skaters in the way is the best. There needs to be more parks that allow bikes.

QUENTIN ODDO spring edit

Anyone know where this is? The architecture of some spots look dope and Quentin really uses the spot well.

FixedGear Geneva

All around smooth riding from the guys over in Geneva. It seems like they've got a bunch of sick parks over there. Gets me in the mood to get out and ride some new ones.

~@RAIL FAIL!!!

What a freakin' boss! Brads got some huge balls for sure. I doubt I'd have the balls to even attempt something half the size of that.

Teisuke Morimoto: Street Fiend

I spotted this one over at Pedal Consumption. The BLK MRKT Street Fiend is probably one of my favorite frames now. Although it closely resembles their DJ frames, I love it. The low top tube is dope and the BB is high but nothing crazy. They haven't released much information so I don't know if its a 700c or 26" frame but hopefully this one is a 700c frame because the wheelbase is too long (gotta make that seat tube cutout look sexy!).

How To Build Yourself a Fixed

Although I don't agree with some of the advice they're giving, this is a creative video for sure. I love the editing and the music really made it mellow.

Sorry, about the price of milk.

That frame color is sickkkk. theres some pretty smooth tricks in this one, definitely a good way to start off the morning.

Dawson Phan: Broken!

Good stuff from Dawson. I never knew he got picked up by Velocity, it seems like their team is huge, I wanna see a rider section on their site!

City Grounds: Welcome to the Team Corey

Coreys been getting a lot of attention lately as shown through his new sponsors. He now rides for both Citygrounds and All-City, congrats man! He deserves it too. His tuck no handers are sick and he stays true to the FGFS roots.

Make-over!

The blogs got a new look what do you guys think? :)

Seth Kimbrough "that dawwwg"

I'm loving the style and creativity in this one. Way too many bangers to point out. One thing that did stand out to me though was all the grinds. Kimbrough gets extremely creative and they're all so smooth. Unlike on FGFS. IMO grinds on FGFS will never compare to that of bmx. Fixed Gears really are limited and a lot of the time, the grinds are slow and awkward. I'll admit, some riders can pull them off and make them look good (Slum especially) but to me, I'd rather focus on other tricks. But hey, to each his own.

We Laugh Alot

It's great to laugh at other people's pain. At least you know its not you! Other than that, I'm digging the nose mannual to wheelies, I wanna try that out once I get nose mannies down. I've eaten so much shit learning them.

Anthony Rasca Bike Check

This is in Long Beach? I think? Correct me if I'm wrong. Anthonys got a pretty solid setup for himself minus the mismatch pedals and loose BB. He rides for Livevil, a clothing company based out of LB. Check them out HERE. I'm really digging that baseball tee although I dislike the Livevil logo/font, I hate when companies try to look like Supreme.

USFixed Intro

I'm not really sure what this group is but they're based out of Huntington Beach so I gotta support that local steeeze! Updates and more info soon!

More AP Testing

Fuck it I'm not studying for AP Physics anymore, theres no way in hell I'm passing that test haha. Soooo I guess I'm back! I have some new stuff on the LDG Hammer and I'll post up my Bruiser on dual 26's. Some other stuff is also in the works so stay tunned and spread the wordd! Ohh and Happy Mother's Day!

AP Testing

I've been cramming for AP Tests recently and thats why there hasn't been too many pots. Sorry I haven't updated you guys till now, I've just been super busy. On the bright side, next week I'll just be watching movies and doing labs in my AP classes which means more riding and more posts! I'll try and update my current ride as well. I switched to 26" and I actually like it so far. in a week I'll be able to really put it to the test and I'm stoked. Ohh and I suck at building wheels, sketchy ass shit right now haha and today I broke two spokes on my rear doing a feeble so I gotta get that fixed up soon as well. My wallet hasn't been liking me too much recently...
